Beyond the Funny
The National Black Theatre in Harlem presents Rain Pryor in, Fried Chicken and Latkes. It was an awesome one woman show about her journey of not only being Richard Pryor's daughter, but also her journey of being black and Jewish, and the pride of both worlds. It was a great body of work. It shed the light on culture and color divide. How family and friends make you who you are, not the world. We must learn to embrace all of who we are, and not let others define us and put us in a box. Interesting how a woman born in 1969, still deal with race relations in 2015. Have we really overcome?

All White Party
Went to my very first all white party on last Saturday. Not that I have not been invited to one before, but I have always been self conscious of my weight. But since I've loss a few pounds, I have a tad bit more confidence in the color as a clothing option. So glad to shed the fears with the weight.

Museum Mile 2015
As usual, I'm late with a post. Anywho, last week was museum mile in NYC. A awesome event for people who like the museum and the arts. For almost a 15 block radius, museums are free to get into from 6-9. For the second year a row, Bean and I attended. And as usual we see some crazy stuff, like a naked woman, well a naked woman being painted. In NYC that's art. This year we tried something different, we actually took a free hand drawing session at the Met. Natasha actually did a great job, as I resided to just drawing the column that was next to the statue we were suppose to draw, lol. It was a great time had. As always, just one of the great things NYC has to offer in the summer time. Until the next event.

Shoe in the city
I normally forget to take pictures of cool things I see in the city, but this time I didn't. Now that I'm into fitness and running, I often stop at sneaker stores or anything that deal with fitness wear. Walking down 42nd street I see a asics sneaker store that has the coolest advertisement of a show upside down with the city landscaped on it. Made me want to buy a pair, but I didn't. But knowing me, I will definitely be visiting that store soon. Great marketing!

Chaka Khan
Who got to see Chaka Khan for free on Wednesday, yours truly. Celebrate Brooklyn came with the fire, literally, for the opening of the season. Everyone and their mother, whether they lived in Brooklyn or not, was there to see Ms. Khan, and she did not disappoint. The spirit of the summer was truly in the air. Blankets, food, wine, and friendship. Shout out to Ms. Kilolo for holding prime real estate in the park, two blankets, #boom! NYC is in full swing, even though it feels like early fall. More to come.

Fast summer
This summer is going by fast. I can't believe, in two days, it will be July 20th. In my line of business (education), I look forward to doing all things that NYC have to offer. But since purchasing a car lastsumner, I've been doing more road trips, catching a show here, or a movie there somewhere.
Today was my biggest highlight, sleepover with my Girl Scout troop while my god-daughter is in town. Tweens, pre-teens and full blown teenagers are both a handful and joy. Like I always say to the young people in my life. I love to hate you, and I hate to love you. They get it!
Ciao,
Gayla
